Best Halloween Costume of 2014. Can you top this? Mainspring Academy would love to see you try this Saturday, Oct. 24, at its 2nd Annual SuperHero 5K & Mile Fun Run, behind Publix in Nocatee, starting at 9 a.m.

Unleash your inner Superhero and run, walk, stroll or volunteer to support the kids at Mainspring Academy. The Academy’s 2nd Annual SuperHero 5K & Mile Fun Run will start behind Publix in Nocatee this Saturday, Oct. 24. A one-mile fun run starts at 9 a.m. and the 5K race starts at 9:30 a.m.

Everyone is invited to participate in some way. Sponsorship opportunities are available, too. Register to participate at PRS Race Timing. Contact Jackie Bargas,, to volunteer or inquire about sponsorship opportunities.

All funds raised are designated for hardship scholarships, teacher education and advancement and capital investments for Mainspring Academy. Mainspring strives to serve as the premier academic center for students with special needs and learning challenges in Jacksonville and surrounding areas. The staff uses a variety of curricula to accommodate each student’s unique style of learning. While in attendance at Mainspring, children are exposed to a variety of strategies and teaching techniques meant to bring out each child’s best effort.

Mainspring shares its campus with Keystone Behavioral Pediatrics, the academy’s primary provider for behavioral support services. KBP provides additional support and trainings to Mainspring staff in the areas of behavior interventions, professional crisis management and student referrals.
