Keystone Child Development Center’s nurse works towards stabilizing, maintaining and improving the health of children attending KCDC. In addition, she is a vital part of the interdisciplinary team of professionals which assists each student and family with the goal of optimizing wellness, preventing further disabilities and, as needed, adapting to a changed lifestyle. The nurses also assists with intake assessment, evaluation, treatment and discharge planning.

Outpatient

The nurse possesses expert knowledge related to the disease entity and treatment needs of the patients seen at Keystone. She educates patients and families on specific medication, treatments and protocols and serves as a resource to members of the community who may interact with the patient and family. She is available on a daily basis to triage, perform assessments and procedures and serve as overall resources to the patient and family. She is skilled in dealing with a variety of pediatric disabilities.

School Program and Day Treatment

The nurse prepares students on how to incorporate medical treatments into their school day. She assists each student in becoming more independent about meeting their own needs. The nurse administers and monitors the effects of a variety of medications and completes a variety of medical treatments such as drug monitoring and administering first aid when needed. She is a vital component of the school program by identifying ways to keep students in a safe environment and serving as a resource to other staff on health-related issues.
