Keystone’s Spring Break 2016 Special Needs Camp begins March 21

keystone-spring-break-campKeystone’s Spring Break Camp offers an enriching and fun experience for children ages 3 to 18 with intellectual or developmental disabilities, such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and other behavior disorders. Children who have challenges with socials skills, independence and communication may find themselves isolated, misunderstood, frustrated, anxious or depressed. Others in their environment may perceive their social differences as an indication that they are rude, willful, awkward or oppositional. Further, as these children transition into adulthood, these differences present challenges to successful employment, leisure or relationship pursuits. Because of the pervasive impact of social differences, addressing these skills is a critical part of the behavioral education curriculum for all children with disabilities.

The Spring Break Social Skills Camp offered by Keystone Behavioral Pediatrics is a high quality program located on the Southside in Jacksonville, Florida, that provides instruction in a low student-to-therapist ratio, with behavior therapists trained in the methodologies and best practices of Applied Behavior Analysis. Upon completion of a behavioral assessment, staff will make recommendations pertaining to the anticipated level of support that your child will need to participate to the fullest extent.  A variety of skill domains will be addressed. Based on your child’s individual needs and assessments, they will be assigned to custom groups to address their core deficits.

Focusing on a different country each day, a variety of activities will be provided such as: vocational skills (daily living skills, job ready skills), academic skills (reading, math, language arts), social skills (play skills, interacting with peers), enriching field trips (zoo, community parks), health & safety (community helpers, community skills) and physical activity (gross motor skills, exercise).

All children enrolled in camp will have access to a variety of support services including:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Parent Collaboration
  • Behavior Management
  • High Functioning Social Skills Groups
  • Speech Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Individual Psychotherapy

Fees are $400 for the week. For current Keystone clients, fees may be covered partially or totally by your insurance plan. Please contact Kathye Harber, harber@keystonebehavioral.com, 904.619.6071, to determine coverage.
