PCIT improves parent-child relationships

keystoneD34Keystone offers Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to improve caregiver-child relationships and increase children’s positive behaviors. PCIT is a 14-session parent training intervention that teaches caregivers specific behavior management techniques as they play with their child.

This type of therapy is an exceptionally effective treatment backed by 20 years of research. A Keystone therapist coaches parents in specific play therapy and discipline skills through an earpiece while observing the caregiver and child through a one-way mirror.

Caregivers are taught effective commands and specific behavior management techniques, such as time-out procedures, as they play with their child, so that they can manage their child’s behaviors in real-world settings. Caregivers usually see marked improvement in three to four sessions.

To learn more, visit PCIT on Keystone’s website, email Keystone client care coordinators or call 904.619.6071.
